USDrift Scouting Report | Season 3

Season 3 of the USDrift Scouting Report will be starting shortly for the 2025 season. Applications will open starting on Friday, February 14th and close on Saturday, March 15th for drivers interested in attempting to earn a 2026 Formula DRIFT license.

The Scouting Report is designed to operate in lieu of a traditional multi-event competition series or double-elimination one or two round competition events. This allows drivers to attend a variety of events to showcase their talents over the course of an entire season that doesn’t involve strictly competition events. These events will include casual drift days, bash events (i.e. HyperFest, Bayside Bash, etc.), as well as competition events (i.e. USDrift Street League, Battle on the Bay, Gambler, etc.).

The ideal applicant should:

  • act professional on and off the track (this is why you are applying after all)

  • be proficient with a variety of drifting techniques

  • exhibit great car control

  • have the ability to understand what the lead driver/car is doing and adapt

  • have a vehicle that can start an event with all body panels present

  • not have a vehicle with mis-matched or unpainted body panels

  • be on social media and demonstrate basic marketing (unless independently wealthy)

The USDrift Scouting Report consists of a five-member panel that will observe drivers attending events to help determine whether drivers would make a good fit for Formula DRIFT. The panel for 2025 will include Formula DRIFT judge Brian Eggert, former Formula DRIFT PRO driver and PRO2 champion Dan Savage, Formula Drift judge Reese Marin, USDrift judge Mike Schneider, and USDrift judge Ben Portyrata. The combined experience of the panel includes various levels of involvement in drifting and as such, should grant them significant knowledge into the sport. The panel may select at their discretion, one eligible driver to award a 2026 Formula DRIFT license that is valid for that season only. The recommendation will be determined by the combined scouting reports from each member of the panel based on the evaluations of the drivers, their vehicles, media content, marketability, and overall program, as these things are all needed to run a successful program in Formula DRIFT. In other words, you need to be a total package.

Drivers interested in participating in the USDrift Scouting Report may apply online here. Applying is free, however applications will close on Saturday, March 15th for the 2025 season. For more information on Formula DRIFT PRO/AM licensing click here.
